AKIN holding began its operations in the middle 1980's.Two key factors played a main role in its establishment and development. The first and most important, was my father , Rustu AKIN. When he was in his late seventies, he remained a vigorous driving force an continued, with his vast experience, to contribute enormously both to determining strategies and to the decision-making processes in the management of the business. In many ways he was a "moral holding" all by himself. When he passed away we decided, guided by his principles, that the only way to safeguard the power and the strength of the companies that we had built to date and to ensure that they flourish still further was throughout concerted, unified action. In other words, we agreed that individual business decisions and action of the companies in the group be superseded by those taken collectivity and centrally throughout a holding which would oversee shareholder interests in an integrated manner.The second factor was that the formation of a holding company naturally facilitated the exercise of effective control over our companies and helped promote professional management.The holding company was formed to promote healthy institutional growth within a framework of unity and togetherness. In order to realize this goal it was imperative that; all the family shares be centralized under the holding company, and that; fair and equitable mangement of shareholder interests be institutionalized in this central body.We have now completed these structural adjustments and are observing, much to our satisfaction, their impact on bringing our companies even greater success.I am proud to introduce you both the companies in the AKIN group and the young AKIN Holding as it strides surely and successfully towards becoming a strong institution capable of meeting the challenges of the next millennium.
