Since its establishment in 1956 by the brothers Rustu and Haydar Akin, Akin Tekstil has played a key role in the development of the Turkish textile industry. The Company is 85 percent owned by Akin Holding, Haydar Akin Holding and members of the Akin family. The remaining 15 percent is publicly held and traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.



The Company employs over 1,400 qualified personnel and produces over 13 million meters of cloth annualy, 80 percent of which is exported to the EU and North America. Over one million pieces of garment is produced annually all of which are exported to mainly European customers.

Manufacturing is carried out at the Company's vertical mill in Bakirkoy, Which occupies 65,000 square meters of covered area and comprises spinning, weaving, dyeing, finishing and ready-made garments units. The Company's product range includes: 100 percent cotton, polyester / viscose, polyester/cotton, lycra and linen blends of plain, yarn and fiber dyed manufacturing ready-made garments. Trousers shorts, skirts, and blouses are also manufactured for export


Akin Tekstil places great stress on the production of quality products through the use of high technology by the best qualified personnel. The Company's Research and Development has enabled Akin Tekstil both to keep pace with the latest developments in textile technology and to extend its product range.
The Company now ranks among the world leaders in the manufacture of "wrinkle-free" and "micro-cotton" fabrics. The large orders from Western European chain stores and garment makers are evidence of the reputation Akin Tekstil has earned for high quality production.

Backed by a long history of success, Akin Tekstil continues to look into the future. The first stage of a new integrated mill at Luleburgaz, 160 kilometers outside Istanbul, was finished in late 1996. The state-of-the -art jet-dye department recently entered service.

The continuous-dye department began operations in 1997.When it is finally completed in 1999, the mill will occupy a total covered area of 168,000 square meters. Akin Tekstil was one of the first companies in Turkey to implement the concept of (TQM) "Total Quality Management" and, has recently earned the formal granting of ISO 9001 Quality Certificate.
