With this in mind, the Company has invested heavily in equipping its plant at Mahmutbey, Istanbul. with the latest in textile technology. New technology has enabled Edip Iplik to diversify its product range as well as increase capacity. In 1993 it began production of sewing thread. and in 1994 it began producing slab yarn and fancy twisted yarn. Today the Mahmutbey plant has over 50,000 spindles, ring twisters, a dye house and a sewing thread department.
Edip Iplik also implements a customer oriented production strategy, stressing flexible and small batch production. The Company currently sells most of its output to domestic manufacturers, in addition to its strong exports sales realized mostly through backdoor selling.
In order to keep pace with increasing demand, in 1995 Edip Iplik began constructing a new plant in Luleburgaz. This plant will have the largest twisting capacity and largest dye house in Turkey, and one of the largest sewing thread capacities in the country. The plant commenced operation in the late 1997. Edip Iplik plans to move all of its production to Luleburgaz in the early years of the 21st century.
