Akin Mensucat was founded in 1983 by Akin Holding, which remained as the major shareholder until today. Akin Mensucat manufactures circular knitted fabric, most of which is used in the production of its own clothing line.The Company rapidly established itself as one of the leading leisure and sportswear garment producers in Turkey. All of the garments produced by Akin Mensucat are exported, primarily to markets in Europe and North America.

In late 1996 the Company opened a new 18,000 square meters factory in Ambarli, Istanbul.( 15 minute drive from the Istanbul Airport) The new plant includes a fully air-conditioned knitting department, with a number of Terrot knitting machines. For garment production the Company uses a range of Brother sewing machines and Gerber Garment Technologies Cad / Cam systems.

Akin Mensucat places great emphasis on keeping abreast of the latest developments in textile production and processing technology. The Company has its own R&D department, provides on the job training for its personnel and has an in-house quality control laboratory to ensure that its products always comply with the most exacting international standards. Akin Mensucat is also firmly committed to protecting the environment and only uses environmentally friendly raw materials, accessories and processing techniques.
